Explore New Restaurants and Classics at Canal Place in 2020

If your New Year’s resolution is to treat yourself, Canal Place has everything you need. Whether you’re in town on a New Orleans trip or you simply want to see what’s new, you’ll love strolling the storefronts of Canal Place. And now, two new additions to Downtown New Orleans’ premier shopping destination are available to help fuel your French Quarter excursion.

Starbucks Renovation Brings A Broader Menu

No day of shopping can begin without your daily dose of caffeine. Fortunately, the newly renovated Starbucks at Canal Place, which reopened in November 2019, now offers a broader menu, including hot breakfast sandwiches. That means you have a new one-stop breakfast shop to visit before you tour the dressing rooms of J. Crew, Banana Republic and Louis Vuitton. There’s only one question to ask yourself before you go: is it still pumpkin spice season?

Shake Shack Opens Flagship Location in Canal Place

Shake Shack’s 3,400-square-foot space on the ground floor of Canal Place opened last month, making it the third Louisiana location of the modern “roadside” burger stand. The two previous locations are in the new Louis Armstrong airport terminal and Metairie. But, this new addition is perfect for those looking to grab quick, quality eats to recharge before hitting the afternoon shops.

The nationally renowned burgers-and-fries joint is known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs. And with no hormones or antibiotics — ever — it’s the most guilt-free way to cheat on any New Year’s resolutions you may have made. And as long as you’re not giving up sweets (and maybe even if you are), you have to try the famous frozen custard.

The Canal Place Shake Shack is open Sunday-Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and visitors will notice fun quirks like table tops made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes.

Morton’s Remains a Canal Place Staple

Morton’s The Steakhouse (yes, that Morton’s) isn’t new at Canal Place, but it’s always good to be reminded of the greatness in our midst. The restaurant has always been a favorite for dinner and drinks among New Orleans locals and tourists alike. The only thing that comes close to beating Morton’s prime beef, seafood and cocktails is its exceptional dining atmosphere.

With 2020 just getting underway, don’t forget that Morton’s is the perfect go to spot for any occasion, like celebrating an exceptional trip to Canal Place.
